The European Union will increase its financial support for the Palestinian Authority with a three-year package worth around 1.6 billion euros ($1.8 billion), the European Commissioner responsible for the Middle East told Reuters in an interview published Monday.

The EU is the biggest donor to the Palestinian Authority, pledging 400 million euros in 2024, and EU officials hope the PA may also one day take responsibility for Gaza after the war between Israel and Hamas comes to an end.

Did they rewrite the headline after you posted? It reads now:

European Union to boost PA funding with $1.8 billion over three years

No I corrected it and removed the propaganda. Headlines are not required to be verbatim what News outlets post here.

I checked archive.org & archive.today, and unfortunately neither has captured the article yet, so I guess there’s no way to know.

Besides that the OP has replied themselves now, the URL is “european-union-to-boost-pa-funding-with-1-8-billion-over-three-years”, so it would almost certainly have been that headline

The PA fights Palestinians for Israel.

The PA never fights Israel nor its terrorist colonists which are actively terrorizing areas under “PA control”.

The PA lets Israel colonize more and more of the West Bank and does not fight back. It only fights the people fighting back against Israel.

The PA recognizes Israel while Israel does not recognize it.

And the PA surpresses pro Palestinian media such as Aljazeera.

Title gore is unhelpful IMO. I think a better approach would be to say this and explain it in a comment or after a quote in the body.

100% agree on this. Usually i like geneva_convenience’s posts and comments, but if we’re going to start editorializing news articles, instead of just posting the original title and clarifying with information about the PA, the posts lose value massively for me. Where does the buck stop if everyone who republishes links “corrects” news titles as they feel ?

I don’t even disagree with the point of the OP, but this sort of sensationalizing articles just feels like a distant cousin of click bait. It’s what British newspapers do and why i absolutely loathe most of them. Is the new title wrong ? Possibly not, but that’s not the original piece of information. It’s like the reader is too stupid to be served the original information and thank goodness there’s someone to serve you the “correct” title.

I’m against Israel hasbara and disinformation but i find this isn’t the proper way to address it.
