I was playing wow until recently. My computer needs to be replaced. Once I do that, I was thinking about trying GW2.

Hey!
I’m new to piefed. I was a part of the Reddit migration originally. Since then, I really enjoyed the conversations.
I’m a behavior therapist by day. Otherwise a bit of an introvert/gamer. I’m always up for a conversation. Unless I’m asleep, which is earlier and earlier these days.

Yeah. Fortunately I was already at the age where I was willing to become feral about my boundaries when this happened. Bites hurt a lot.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has anyone done something small for you that helped you in a big way that they did not realize?English
3·1 天前A stranger helped me carry something into a store. And saved me the embarrassment of taking it in a few steps at a time. I was really struggling with it… It wasn’t something most people would struggle with but…yeah. They were very kind to do so. I will probably think about that for a long time.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you raise siblings in a way that they don't hate each other?English
9·2 天前A lot of good answers here. Being a good model, correcting behavior, treating siblings with equity.
You cannot control everything though. They will have lived experiences outside of the control of their parent, good and bad friends, teachers, etc. They may be born with different medical conditions. All this is impactful in shaping a person, and how flexible they are.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you personally use upvotes/downvotes?English
15·2 天前Upvote: Things I like or find interesting, other people’s OC and effortful posts (even if it’s not my thing), genuine stuff that makes the community thrive
Downvote: People who are super rude, antisocial content/communication, reportable stuff, misinformation.
I have a couple of users blocked.
Nothing fancy. Date one after a couple weeks of talking. I made it clear I wasn’t down for physical shenanigans yet. After a drink he got a tiny bit handsy. Second drink, he moved to my side of the table and tried to get very handsy. I paid my half, said I was ready to leave without becoming confrontational. He clearly thought my boundaries had changed with a couple of weak drinks. On the walk to the car, he continuously tried to bully me into kissing him (absolutely not) and then tried to shove me in his car after pressuring me into a hug goodbye. I bit him on the titty and drove home like a maniac.
Just go by your middle name. No need to explain to anyone your personal business. Only assholes are going to insist on calling you something non preferred.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the best way to answer someone who accuses you of being a bot because they don't like what you have to say?English
2·5 天前Okay, that’s fair. How about when people ask you for food recipes after comment reply that’s in context? Are bots that good?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the best way to answer someone who accuses you of being a bot because they don't like what you have to say?English
6·5 天前It’s like being called an NPC isn’t it
Yes, all of that. Also my laugh is weird.
I enjoy watching it on YouTube. I’m afraid I’d laugh wrong in public so I’ve never been.
So for me when I was dating it was that people were never interested in me as a person, for a variety of reasons.
So for example a lot of people my age have children and look for a mother figure. Or think mothers themselves are not for serious companionship.
Or looking for what I provide as a service (free therapy).
Or it’s a money thing.
Eventually it went from annoying to exhausting. Well, it was not adding anything to my life so why bother?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the story behind your username and avatar?English
7·9 天前I do a lot of play therapy and wear a lot of costumes. Arts and crafts necessitates shiny objects such as gemstones glitter/glue. The photo I think I’m dressed up for some silly hat day thing. I may be a crow.
I think my first post here someone asked me to tell them about baking lasagnas, maybe because of the way I type. Is it also sort of an insult to imply someone is a bot?

Games@lemmy.world•Epic boss Tim Sweeney thinks stores like Steam should stop labelling games as being made with AI: 'It makes no sense,' he says, because 'AI will be involved in nearly all future productionEnglish
3·11 天前I don’t care if it is seamless…I want to play games and enjoy art made by human brains. Because to me it’s the closest we can get to being in someone else’s experience of a thing. And yeah we still go through our own filter but this game…or song or painting is someone else’s brain creating and I’m just walking through their vision of the world.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a word for when someone is not capable of, or doesn't try to understand verbal communication in a language they are fluent in, similar to functionally illiterate, but for speech?English
2·12 天前Not capable at all would be non-verbal. This includes vocal and non-vocal verbal communication such as PECs and sign. Non-vocal is not speaking out loud. Able to speak but not doing so may be called selectively verbal.
Not trying at all could have several outcomes and reasons behavioral and medical and would not be any of these. They may not learn to read so lack literacy or may not learn properly how to speak and lack fluency in their first language.
Edit: upon reading some of your other comments, you may be thinking of delays in receptive and expressive language. Which can have many causes.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an unscientific opinion that you firmly hold?English
2·13 天前Tbh that sounds pretty darn good.

No, not really.
I mean… I think there are variables that predict our life outcomes, at least the odds of them.
Things like where we are born, who are parents are, our environment all have roles in the experiences we will have throughout our entire lives.
Behavior is somewhat predictable once you study it as a science. So I guess it could seem rather scripted when you figure it like that.
