So, Trump and many Republicans are HAPPY about the Big Beautiful Bill. I am trying to get inside the mind of someone who voted for Trump who is happy about the bill. What exactly are they happy about?

This is a serious question. I honestly just want to know what the average Trump voter who pulls in maybe 40k a year? Why is he smiling about this bill?

Serious answers only please.

it doesn’t take any kind of smarts to read an article from a respected news source that confirms that the last administration was not at all interested in “harm reduction” for the gazan genocide.

Those who abstained from voting and helped Trump get elected have done far more harm to the people in Gaza than those who voted Democrat. That’s the harm reduction aspect you’re missing. No one is saying the Democratic party’s stance on Gaza is good

read the articles and you’ll see that the evidence says the exact opposite: the last administration didn’t bother with harm reduction at all while the the current one actually managed to pause it for a couple a weeks and isn’t automatically caving into netanyahu’s demands

This isn’t about Gaza. We all know that the situation in Gaza is fucked, and the Biden administration wasn’t friendly to Gaza. I was pissed as hell at their response. But that doesn’t mean bringing fascism home to the U.S. is the solution.

the facism was always here; it merely had a mask that is now being torn off.

No it wasn’t. That’s delusional. We’ve been slow walking toward fascism for a while, but it wasn’t just always there.

tell that the black panthers after they were bombed by the police; or the brown americans who were born and raised in the united states, but still forcibly moved to mexico during the zoot suit riots and the depression; or the queer people who were arrested, imprisoned, fined, and livelihoods ruined until they fought back at the stonewall inn; or the tuskegee airmen or the navajo that were sterilzed and had medical experiments conducted upon them without their will, simply because they weren’t american enough; or black wall street in tulsa that was literally shot and bombed at like the gazans are right now.

there are SO MANY examples of american facism that you have to be willfully ignorant of them to believe that americans aren’t fascist; either that or be your garden variety american voter.

I’m not even gonna address your points. We are all frustrated with the state of the U.S.

My point was just that the Trump administration is not better than the alternative. We can all agree on that. If you can’t or won’t admit that, then you’re part of the problem.

agreed, this administration is not any better than the last one.

the problem is the automatic and unquestioning assumption that the last administration was better despite the large body of evidence (by even american institutions) stating the opposite.

The last administration didnt try to gut NSF science funding, nasa, our Healthcare, social security, or any of the other dumb crap in the reconciliation bill just passed. If you seriously think the Biden administration was bad, you didnt pay attention. My job, my colleagues jobs are on the line, my partner might lose all funding for her job, my friends are losing their jobs, PBS and NPR facing funding cuts. My grandfather, my uncle, my step father, all potentially losing their disability, social security, etc. People trying to strip us of citizenship, this shit is not normal. The fact that you are trying to equate the two administration’s is fucking disingenuous as fuck.
