Because what Japan of all countries needs is more xenophobia.
Pretty much the same set of circumstances as in Europe. Slow economic growth + dissatisfaction about young voters + inflation + establishment party lacking any plan beyond muddling along => populist revolt => governing gets even harder and things get worse.
The problem is always “the others” that aren’t “us”. Mankind’s inherent tribalism will be its downfall.
If we could just get rid of everyone that’s not us, we’d be fine. /s

I feel like this is kind of downplaying the fact that Japan is easily one of the most xenophobic countries in the world, with a healthy dose of racist as well. If you arent a born ethnically Japanese in Japan you can never be a citizen of Japan, only a national. This party has nothing to do with that being the case.
