That’s the minimalist basic plan, yeah. Hoping to do something complimentary above the bookshelves though.
Yeah, the pattern makes it intentionally hard to tell. It’s a vacuum formed plastic square with 4 circles.
What they did was staple a horizontal slat, then some extra vertical slats, and painted the bottom half of the wall blue.
It’s all plaster except for the crappy wood slats they stapled on. LOL.
I found some old photos from before they did this, it was a perfectly fine wall. Maybe a little plain, but fine!
I dunno if they’re transparent enough for that, would be worth looking into.
There’s an 10" gap between the bookshelves and the ceiling I’m trying to do something with. 😉
I need to figure out what to do with the top of the wall that sticks up above the bookshelves, lots of options, but my wife has veto power. 😉

In fairness, they are a set that I linked my wife to as a “yeah, something like this…”
Bookshelves are one of those things that can be like $80 each up to “How much would you like to spend?” These are reasonable.
