I think the image is only looking at where the plant originated. Weed came from the Himilayas, in Asia. If it was strictly where the stuff you’re consuming were grown, then the apples in the apple pie, lemons in the lemonade, cabbage from the coleslaw, corn on the cob, and the hot dogs would all probably be considered American since that’s most likely where they were grown/made.
