WTF? We just talked about X86 the other day, and whether there were any competitors to AMD and Intel that had rights to A64 too.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhaoxin
The architecture of the initial ZX family of processors is a continuation of VIA’s Centaur Technology x86-64 Isaiah design
From the article:
Zhaoxin KH-50000 vs KH-40000 CPUs:
96 Cores vs 32 Cores 3.0 GHz vs 2.5 GHz Peak Clocks 384 MB Cache vs 64 MB Cache 12-Channel DDR5 vs 8-Channel DDR4 128 PCIe 5.0 Lanes vs 128 PCIe 4.0 Lanes ZPI 5.0 Interconnect vs ZPI 3.0 Interconnect
I suspect these are still not nearly as powerful as either AMD or Intel, but goddam the Chinese are really working on every aspect of chip independence.
And because of Trump and USA in general blocking tech from the Chinese, I guarantee these will be at least twice as popular as they would have been otherwise.
PS: In the table last on the page, near the bottom, it says X86 64 bit, so it is indeed a Chinese X86 chip, and it also has SSE 4.2 and AVX and AVX2! So it’s a pretty full featured X86.
Very intereating! That means along with they have at least 2 firms licenced and making x86 CPUs.
That’s what happens when you’re a massive country and someone else tells you no. Hit them with the ol nou.
Are these licenced x86 cores?
Yes license is inherited from VIA. Read my other comment.
Nice. Thanks!
