Edit: Dandelions thrive in soil with lots of nutrients. So if you stop cutting them and let everything use all those nutrients, they will struggle to grow. Instead of grass and dandelions, new wildflowers start to grow. At some point even your clover will thin down a bit and make room for beautiful and much needed species.
Just cut your lawn once at the end of the season and make sure to remove all the cuts from the ground. The wildflowers will have left seeds for the next year to grow.
