    How is that a warning and not a promise?

    Can a French presidential candidate warn: “If i become president we leave Al-Qaeda”?

      He’s not. Historically France has always been out of NATO’s commandment, we rejoined fairly recently and given the situation with Trump, it’s a sensible take. What we need though is a European equivalent, a unified defensive pact and a unified defensive army between all members.

          I believe it’s more of an aid clause than a defensive one. Like all member states must provide aid and assistance, but not necessarily armed forces to fight and defend territorial sovereignty
