Far from concealing these operations, Russian officials paraded the children on television as proof of their success in rescuing Ukrainian orphans.

That’s someone else making the claim, not a source, the link there redirects to an AP news article. You just linked me to someone else saying “the Russians admit to it”, that’s not sourcing.

in May 2022, President Putin issued a decreeexpediting the process of denationalization, stripping Ukrainian children of citizenship documents and bestowing Russian Federation citizenship

Russia now de-facto controls large portions of former Ukraine. The decree specifically applies to orphans and children without parental care. Evidently, orphans should not be left in a warzone, and evidently, since Russia claims those regions of Ukraine it controls, it wants to give Russian nationality to said orphans.

The whole “Russia kidnaps children” thing falls apart entirely when you apply the smallest bit of brainpower: are there children in a warzone? The response is no, there are no children to kidnap in a warzone.

Israel de facto controls large portions of Palestine but I hope you’re not going to excuse their actions too.

Israel doesn’t give Palestinian children Israeli nationality, it exterminates them at worst or keeps them in apartheid at best. Incredible false equivalency while still failing to support your original claim.

I’m supporting my claim just fine but we’re so apart in views that you’ll never see a source of mine as being good enough for you.

Agreed, because all sources you have are “Western newspaper claims that this has appeared on Russian TV” without further sourcing.

And yours are Russian sources which to me is like asking Israeli officials about the Palestine genocide.

Or course they will have excuses and explanations.

I brought Russian sourcing because you claimed Russian officials admit to said kidnapping,

Israeli politicians routinely brag about the Palestinian genocide BTW.

You won’t find official documents in Russia discussing the kidnapping of children, you’re just making shit up. You can argue it happens, and you will do so sourcing ultimately with Ukrainian government information as does the Yale thing you quoted, but you can’t argue Russian authorities have made official declarations involving the scale which is claimed by the Ukrainian government (and not verified by independent journalistic reporting).

And in May 2022, President Putin issued a decree expediting the process of denationalization, stripping Ukrainian children of citizenship documents and bestowing Russian Federation citizenship, accelerating their adoption by Russian families, and rendering them subject to conscription by the Russian military.

Putin strips children of their citizenship and forces them to become Russians.

It doesn’t get much more to the point then that.

Donets and Lugansk were regions of Ukraine which attempted to secede through democratic means, and in 2014 the Ukrainian government started to bomb them in response, so a civil war was triggered. After the Russian annexation of part of those territories since 2022, some orphanages which existed in the region, more so given the civil war, had formally Ukrainian children under no de-facto protection by the Ukrainian government, and these children were in formally Russian territory under Russian law. What do you expect a government to do in those circumstances, to send them to somewhere in Ukraine where they never lived or to take responsibility for them?

Again, think for one second: how many children do you expect to see in a warzone? This is a matter of children without parents stranded in a region of the world which changes de-facto government from one country to another.

Given your qualms with nationalities: do you think Estonia engaged in genocide when it forced ethnic Russian citizens who legally lived there in USSR times to absorb the Estonian nationality to have rights in Estonia?
