it’s perfect because of the crackheads. when the government has failed you at every step, at least you know theres a warm place that’ll take you anywhere in the city that you need to go. it’s a public service that truly serves the entire community as equitably and fairly as it can (not to say that infrastructure investments are distributed equitably though). trains really are the solution for all of humanity’s problems.

I have not but I still love it. trains run every few minutes at rushes and general under ten minutes at other times unless it is like 3am. transfers are free and we have a grid system. my only complaint is electric divy has made manual divys harder to find.
these are all very reasonable takes, although as a smoker i definitely prefer the electric divvy bikes so im not complaining on that last one xD
And i don’t really mean that everyone needs to smoke on the train to have an opinion on the CTA, but its situations like that where you can really talk to people and get to know them. and houseless people are some of the coolest and nicest people if you just give them a chance. it just really pissed me off that the original person i was replying to acted like houseless people staying as safe and warm as they can is a detriment to the CTA. thats some surburban ass shit
Its like anything. I have had some real dicks. Others keep to themselves. Can’t say I have had pleasant interactions but can’t say that much about the non homeless on the train either. By and large we are all keeping to ourselves and getting to our destinations. The thing with the elctric is the cost. The manual costs for a year what a transit does for a month and no extra cost after that. I mean you have to do the dock undock thing if you need more time but thats no big deal.
I probably have a lot more interactions with houseless people due to my demographic (queer, genderqueer, poc, smoker) so i often get stopped by someonr asking for a cigarette or mutual aid.
thats funny. im a non smoker and nearly a non drinker long hair type. So often I would asked for cig and when I said I don’t smoke I would get looks like I did smoke but just did not want to give them one. Its like dude I know what I look like but you know my lung collapsed one time. I always said I have a natural resistance to stuff because I can’t handle inhaling things, Im a needlephobe, I don’t like eating or drinking anything that is not innately tasty, etc, etc. Even when I was younger and would go to clubs the drink I could handle I would get sick of drinking them while only maybe getting buzzed. Oddly I actually would get zima’s back in the day as while I did not like them I did not just hate them. they were tolerable to me.
nope. coffee much like beer is not tasty from the get go. I really don’t like anything I have to build a taste for. I have had some people claim they like this stuff from the fits sip but I have extreme doubts on it unless they already got used to the flavors from some other part of the diet. Im one of those people who are adverse to cilantro and horseradish and wasabi so maybe its me with the wierd gene or something. Its kinda funny to because at one point I thought I hated avocado but what it was is I only ever had it in quac which almost always had cilantro. Once I actually had just avocado in something im like. OMD! this is the best!
