What apps need play services? I have been on completely degoogled phones for a couple of years, and haven’t really missed anything. What apps commonly piggyback play services nowadays?
Can confirm, I installed LineageOS without Google anything and push notifications do not work properly with most apps. Discord, several email providers, basically anything cloud-based
The bootloader can be unlocked, doesn’t clarify if it can be relocked. An unlocked bootloader is a security problem.
We have no information about the degoogled OS. What happens when an app needs Google Play Services? Does the OS have a Sandboxed version or microG?
The project is too short on details for me to give an informed opinion.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that if they had a lockable bootloader or sandbox they’d be saying so.
