    The fuck? Why wouldn’t the US want the actual sizes. Wouldn’t having geographically correct maps help the planet and the people, oh wait… The US government hates that kind of shit

      Mercator is great for navigation in straight lines and makes countries far from the equator look big

      The navigation thing is an actual advantage but it doesn’t give you the shortest routes, just the easiest to follow
