So, reddit’s shit platform is set up so that if you use their default news link it shows subs you have filtered out. Well, I happen to filter subs I’ve been banned from and the cowards at r/worldnews banned me because I said a mean thing about America a while back.
As it turns out… I had not noticed the sub when I was using an alt account and posted a comment to their little walled-garden, and now it seems I’m permabanned from all of Reddit.
And I mean- every account I make is instantly banned-
So my question is:
How can I block all of that shithole from showing up on iOS web searches. I cannot interact with the site. So I’d rather it not appear in web searches altogether.
Same happened to me like a year ago, they wont appeal it
Why would they, their shareholders fucking stupid enough to believe the bots are actually people. They don’t need it to be accessible to anyone to profit from it.

This business of Reddit posts/comments coming up in search is very troubling; a while ago, I was searching for some medical info (on a condition I have and know a fair bit about), and some Reddit things came up so I looked at them for the hell of it. The first thing I read was just completely wrong. Like, totally wrong. I would hope people are being very leery of what they see on reddit, but they probably aren’t. 😕
Sadly numerous LLMs have now been trained on all that wrong info.
And it’s likely on purpose because of the hate-boner people have over LLMs.
There’s a browser extension called uBlacklist, I use it to block all the main social media sites and anyone else who annoys me.

You could add something like
-site:reddit.comto your search query, or alternatively use a search engine like Kagi which allows you to block sites from all future queries.I believe uBlock Origin is also able to do this, but I’m not sure that is possible to use on iOS (I don’t have an iPhone).
Is there anything that will auto-add that to searches?
Maybe a browser extension, but again, I don’t run iOS so I’m not sure what is and isn’t possible.
Appreciate the help. I’m not even able to appeal it. They hard locked me out of their platform. LMAO. All for accidentally making a comment in a sub I was banned from, using an alt. I even had that sub blocked from my feed.

Yeah. It’s just that there’s subs for games I play where I liked being able to ask questions. Those communities don’t exist here.
It is a problem how Reddit became a de facto aggregator of support channels, not just hobbyist communities. DuckDuckGo’s sub is the primary DDG support channel, among countless other examples. It positions Reddit as the gatekeeper of Beijing-style “social credit” and getting banned there is tantamount to being Unperson’ed in some contexts.

I definitely can acknowledge that there are less niche communites here. But the generic communities, especially for gaming, are very popular and I’m sure they’d welcome your questions there!
You can also create the community on your own, if you really wanted a niche community. Frequent quality posts are the way to grow a new community here.
Yeah. It doesn’t really work that way. Others have created subs for the games I play. There’s like between 1 and 5 people in them and next to no activity. Reddit pretty much much owns game support forums.
