Big nerd. Big fan of cool open source stuff. Generally queer. (He/him)
I want this community to be full of posts, and when we have a healthy starting point THEN I think it makes sense to be picky about quality standards. For right now I think my standards are that the pictures should be reasonably high fidelity, and some amount of effort should have gone into plating, and thats pretty much it. Frankly I think op put TOO much effort into plating, cause it looks fussy as all hell, but on a small platform like this posts are a good thing, and dissuading people from posting is not. If you want better quality content go post some food stuff you’ve made or eaten that you think is better
This community is small, its not productive to give people shit for posting decent quality pictures of food, regardless of your hangups about what you want the community to be. There’ll be more room for being picky about what posts belong on a given community when lemmy is big enough there are plenty of healthy communities for food related posts.
I can understand complaints about how eatable the dish is, or about the pretentious plating, but we can communicate those sentiments better than this, and ultimately no one has to like any given post that shows up here. If you want post quality to be better its probably more productive to post content you think is deserving of the community name
Aves is the best I’ve used by far, I just use another app for editing. There’s a button to edit in the aves app and you can open a third party app conveniently that way
Quillnote is my pick, I just wish they let you indent list items- I’m used to using Keep to organize all the junk in my brain, and indentations were super helpful for that
This is probably overkill, but if you can’t find an app that’ll do what you want, this would be pretty easy to set up in tasker or macro droid. I have something similar but more complex set up for myriad medication reminders
You don’t want your ui to be 1980s beige, but like if the plastic has been sitting in a smokers house? Weird.
But yeah, this is material you. Its a feature that makes apps match the colors of your wallpaper, and if you go to “wallpaper and style” in the settings app (at least on my pixel 3, its possible it’d be somewhere else on a phone from a different manufacturer, or potentially even newer phones from google) you can pick other color options
I only use lemmy via mobile. There are tools available for redirecting on android also but its kinda nice to just have a link 🤷 I think it makes privacy more accessible
I rather liked the piped link bot. It was nice to always be presented with an option 🤷 but thats just me
You can try Kõnele and Kõnele service, they’re open source but honestly how to get them working is beyond me. Not sure what I’m doing wrong but I’d previously tinkered with them some but couldn’t get it working. If you figure it out I’d love to know what you find or any advice

Best of luck in your search :)
That’s a damn fine URL. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Iconzy :)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arun.kustomiconpack
Its worth knowing that icon packs intended to be dynamically reshaped (“adaptive” icon packs) may not play nicely with it. For me the icons from those icon packs show in the list (they take up space) but the icons themselves are invisible, making them unhelpful 😅.
Interesting, thank you for sharing your knowledge of the subject with us and a handy link
A lot of folks are using Openboard from f-droid which is no longer maintained, but there’s a fork here that’s still being developed, and has added some new features like theming.
To my mind its currently the best FOSS keyboard app, though that may change once florisboard eventually gets typing recommendations/auto correct implemented
I genuinely do understand concerns about legal issues and the risk of facilitating illegal activities- but its not even hosted on their instance, why would it mater that the communities EXIST. They’re literally hosted by someone else…?
I appreciate you mentioning that, thats how I’m considering using the 5 if it ends up as my phone replacement, but I have a hard time interpreting the info around wireless frequency bandwidths supported 🙃 I like pretty user interfaces, networking hurts my brain
