I just run mine without ever connecting it to the internet.
I run an Apple TV (shock, walled garden!), as it is the only device I’ve seen that consistently matches frame rates properly on the output.

This is why I often refer to 4K as UHD: The WCG and HDR being available to consumers is far more impactful than end users having a few more pixels.
(Also because I’m a snarky pedant, and consumer 4K UHD is only 3840 wide, while DCI4K is actually 4096)
I found it was well worth ripping to flac securely using EAC (no idea what the modern setup is).
As then I knew I had a perfect copy to make whatever MP3 I wanted in the future from.
Nowadays, I convert everything to V0 for portable use, but who knows what the future may hold.
I’m returning to car boot sales to buy cubic meters of CDs.
That, and BandCamp.
And the thin pins means that with any weight (wall-wart, etc.), it starts to come out.
Doubly so if it’s set into thin plasterboard that already wobbles.
Lemmy honestly tends to run on the ideas of “be the change you want to see in the world” and “well volunteered”.
Stick a post up, see if people are interested.
You could message the mods. While they don’t seem to have posted for a while, there are mod actions happening still.
And if you don’t hear anything back, put it as a suggestion to the admins.
Honestly, it’s because it went in early days.
When ML generated art was a novelty, and people hadn’t had a chance to sit down and go “wait, actually, no”.
And it’s an absolute arsepain to replace, because you’ll get 1001 prompt engineers defending slop.
feddit.uk banned generative AI content to make this process easier, and still needs to sweep through and commission new art for a few communities.
Part of me also thinks that fediverse doesn’t need growth for the sake of growth.
That it’s primary function is to be an alternative if people want to use it.
Feedback I’ve heard about Drip was that the interface was slightly wanting. Which is a shame. Sample of one, bear in mind!
At the moment, it’s seen more like using a proxy or VPN. UK users connect to fuk outside of the UK, then the messages are relayed to zip. Fuk is UK focussed, so tries to work with the OSA.
The best analogy is using a UK-focussed email service (wherever it’s actually hosted) to email a non-UK address.
Snip, Snap, Snip, Snap.
Imagine if they introduced a law, that if you had defaulted on your student loans, you were not able to get a passport.
That would reduce the number of highly skilled people leaving the country if it got really shit.
Rawl brand have these notes on the plastic, which I think is neat.
Brown plug, 7mm hole, 5-6mm screw.
Even a little gauge to go with it.
I can agree with this: All the hype around KCD:2 led me to buying/playing KCD:1
This is why I end up doing so much DIY.
A job that takes a professional half a day could take me a whole weekend.
But having to play “how likely are they to fuck it up, and how much of a pain will it be to fix” drives me up the wall so much, I often just buy the tool and do it myself.
My time to do it: 15 hours, plus £200 in materials.
Cheap tradesman: 8 hours, £450 total, non-zero chance I’ll have to rip it out and re-do it myself anyway.
Specialist tradesman : 5 hours, £900-1200 total.
So it either ends up being lots of work, a gamble, or lots of money. Quick, good, cheap, pick two!
That’s the main reason I haven’t bothered upgrading mine any more.
100mbits with 3ms latency is pretty rocking.
Let’s just hope that it doesn’t end up like Snowpiercer!
Looks like a lovely place to relax after a long day asking people for heroin money.
Helpfully, because bitcoin gets all the traderbro attention, monero has actually ended up being (relatively) stable because it has more of a purpose.
Turkey’s main source of renewable power is Atatürk spinning in his grave.
