I just looked her up on Wikipedia. It seems she secured the nomination without being contested. Idk, feels like as progressives we should take some responsibility if no one even ran against her. Giving up isn’t virtuous

Technology@lemmy.zip•Roku and TCL are being sued for allegedly bricking smart TVs with bad updatesEnglish
9·2 months agoThat’s unfortunate. I used two TCLs at a gf’s house and they were the fastest things I’ve ever used. I was able to push any button and control the menu in like less than 2 seconds after booting.
Here’s hoping they can get the updates figured out. I’m thinking they’d be my next TV, tbh

Games@lemmy.world•Nvidia Announces DLSS 5, and it adds... An AI slop filter over your gameEnglish
23·3 months agoThis is Nvidia doing this, right? I don’t see why they wouldn’t try and improve the graphics in games when using their graphics cards. DLSS has been criticized as it’s continued to improve. If people use it it’s because they prefer the graphics with the minimal impact on FPS.
Again, I don’t think I’ve commented on Ithe impact on artists. Since you insist, I’ll comment on it. Y’all raise interesting points. I’m not sure what’s in the best interest for super stressed, underpaid, and underappreciated game developers. If this leads to them selling more games because they can run on cheaper hardware then maybe it’s great. If it completely distorts some face they worked really hard on then maybe that sucks.
That said, I’m just not gonna pretend the one on the right doesn’t look more realistic and I wanted to disrupt the echoes

I stand corrected! Adding it to my list
In political science, a reactionary or a reactionist is a person who holds political views that favor a return to the status quo ante—the previous political state of society—which the person believes possessed positive characteristics that are absent from contemporary society. As a descriptor term, reactionary derives from the ideological context of the left–right political spectrum. As an adjective, the word reactionary describes points of view and policies meant to restore a status quo ante.
As an ideology, reactionism is a tradition in right-wing politics; the reactionary stance opposes policies for the social transformation of society, whereas conservatives seek to preserve the socio-economic structure and order that exists in the present. In popular usage, reactionary refers to a strong traditionalist conservative political perspective of a person opposed to social, political, and economic change.
Reactionary ideologies can be radical in the sense of political extremism in service to re-establishing past conditions. To some writers, the term reactionary carries negative connotations—Peter King observed that it is “an unsought-for label, used as a torment rather than a badge of honor.”

Technology@lemmy.ml•Biden’s TikTok Flip-Flop: President Rushes To Undo Ban He Championed As Backlash Grows
2·1 year agoSure but what’s their excuse? Is everyone simply a huge Meta investor? That’d be my best guess for how multiple people try to achieve something like this without looking at the consequences - personal gain. But I’m still inclined to believe these politicians/surrogates want to do a decent job and/or get re-elected

I liked it but I also felt it was a bit outdated. I’ve gone back to it a couple times but during that, admittedly scattered, time I finished Taking Charge of Adult ADHD by Dr. Barkley and then recently started How to ADHD by Jessica McCabe.
I’ll admit my opinion/openness to the book changed after I learned how effective and well-researched medication is and noticed he mentions a few times in the first few chapters how he doesn’t seem to believe the science or just disregards it.
Note: Just checked and realized Dr. Barkley’s book first came out only a year after Dr. Mate’s so I guess they’re originally not that far apart.
2015 Honda Civic SI - best sports car I could get for the price. Great value car; still running perfectly almost 10 yrs later (afai
kct). The interior was also much better compared to others.Probably not getting a new car ever due to all the “smart” features cars come with that I really don’t like.

World News@lemmy.world•Israeli Ground Forces Cross into Syria, Officials SayEnglish
3·2 years agoYou and what army?
I mean, like are you from
Irananother country likely to attack them or something? Who do you see attacking Israel, in that scenarioI didn’t downvote you, btw. Just wondering which one of us is more confused here. lol. No hate
If we’re just pulling shit out of our ass, maybe this will encourage conspiracy nuts to actually learn about political organizing and the rich history of well-documented movements from the last 100+ yrs that have resulted in real change/benefits for the working class
Hell, maybe people will even start reading more! Like, stuff written by authors and shit. lol. Now, that’d be some crazy. lol. I wonder if Musk “and his friends” could ever pull that one off - getting Americans to read/learn - even with their infinite money hacks
Crazy stuff. Now, hurry up and pass that shit! You’re hoggin it
This absolutely the right lesson to learn here. Who cares if you can’t discuss it (not literally)? We already know the American people agree. We now need to take the next step to unify the working class and organize so we can coordinate our efforts and exercise actual political power
