Really? I’m super curious what made you feel this way. I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed by it compared to Flanagan’s other series’.
100% agree with you. Loved the first half and was really let down by the 2nd.
The only other show that’s given me similar vibes to the 1st half of Frieren was Violet Evergarden. Not so much for the content but in the melancholic, beautiful-yet-bittersweet vibes the whole show gives off.
I think that show greatly benefitted from the limited runtime though and would have suffered if they’d tried to push it out to Frieren length.
Not my favourite but Sleepaway Camp is an absolute classic of so-bad-its-good 80s horror with an unforgettable ending.
Absolutely, there is sooooo much more content now and the balance and QoL is tonnes better too. Still recommend using the wiki late game though.
We’ve been using QGIS at my company for almost 8 years at this point and I really love it. The python integration and deep plugin repository render it head and shoulders above ESRI. Although I admit for enterprise solutions many will still require the turn-key solutions esri offer.
I think there is a stark distinction between “really fun” and “one of the best games ever”. This list contains almost nothing which pushed against the barriers of gaming either now or in the past.
Some really weird picks here. A few standout bad takes:
The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell comes to mind. A Jesuit priest is the only survivor of a first-contact flight to an alien world and returns horribly disfigured in mind and body and refuses to talk about what happened. We slowly learn what happened to everyone as the story unfolds. Great SF novel and not religious, although it explores religion.
You’ve got be joking right? The most influential, most loved, most well regarded fantasy trilogy of all time is not a good story actually? I get that it wasn’t your style for whatever reason but to call it bad storytelling is just asinine.
Would make a sick climbing gym
If you have an account you can view the support thread here: https://supportportal.crowdstrike.com/s/article/Tech-Alert-Windows-crashes-related-to-Falcon-Sensor-2024-07-19
Workaround Steps:
Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment
Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory
Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it.
Boot the host normally.
There is a fix people have found which requires manual booting into safe mode and removal of a file causing the BSODs. No clue if/how they are going to implement a fix remotely when the affected machines can’t even boot.
Yep, stuck at the airport currently. All flights grounded. All major grocery store chains and banks also impacted. Bad day to be a crowdstrike employee!
Haha, I have no idea why it is so unheard of. Absolutely floored me the first time I saw it years ago and I’ve come back to it at various times in my life and gotten different things out of it each time. Such a gem of a film.
Haven’t seen The Best of Youth but I’ll put it on my list right next to Satantango 😉.
A few I don’t see getting mentioned much:
Hell yeah! Ritual by him is also wonderful.
Shoutout for mentioning Brick. Modern noir masterpiece I never see mentioned online. Great, eclectic list overall!
This one is good but Hungry Cat Nonograms is the best mobile picross game imo. Thousands of puzzles, amazing controls, beautiful art. It has ads which can be removed with a single in-app purchase. Been playing for almost 8 years and they’re still releasing weekly content.
The thing for me wasn’t so much the game choice but the placement. It feels like they took a big bag of 100 of the best games and randomly picked them out one at a time. If you start to ask is Y really better than X on this list then it starts to make less and less sense.
