Oh interesting…

Every browser that I know of is open source. But I use Orion!

I tried iOS for about 5 months and the absolute worst part was the horrendous keyboard…
The first thing to do on a fresh install is to run a system update.

Uses Kernel Level Anti-Cheat
Aaaand I’m out. Soooo many shitty new games.
Fucking great question.

Look at the listing. There is no such caveat.

Right, but not if you didn’t. Which would be false advertising.

Then you wouldn’t be able to “answer your door from anywhere”…
Someone message me

I mean it’s certainly possible, it’s just a matter of whether the doorbell firmware/software will support it. And the answer is almost always no.
The number of FOSS apps not taking advantage of UnifiedPush is too damn high.

From the listing:
Answer your door from anywhere in the world with this remote viewing Video Doorbell.
So I assume you’re not expected to self-host this. Which means they have to run and maintain servers. And $16/person ain’t covering the cost of this device + servers indefinitely.
This. A lot of game devs see fit to make games work on Steam Deck but explicitly barr them from any other distro. This command just yes “hi, I’m a Steam Deck!”
Same as most people. OSs have just evolved to become systems made to serve their creators rather than their “customers”.
Windows wants to steal all your data and then use it to shove ads in your face.
Apple also constantly tries to push their own products and services through the OS, not to mention continually pushing the boundaries of irrepairability and locking you in an ecosystem. And just being extremely expensive.

Honestly don’t care what they do with their store. But it’s super fucked to exert 100% control of all software on the device.

Talking and actually sticking with those ideals are totally different things
Right, but we weren’t talking about sticking to the ideals, we were talking about the ideals themselves.
No local files should be able to be “tracked” by anyone unless you explicitly give the app permission. If you must give it permission, this is why “storage scopes” exist. You can create a folder exclusively for that app and give it access only to that folder.
If you’re trying to hide it from another user of your device, someone else already mentioned “private space”.
