that might be. i am a pure single-player (with a bit of local coop mixed in) player, and i prefer roguelites, VNs with actual gaming elements and FPS / “Immersive Sim”-Style games, and currently the Vampire Survivor category with Yet another Zombie Survival and Halls of Torment. I try out a lot of games (If theres a Fitgirl or DODI release of it and even somewhere in my ballpark i’ll test it).

Most issues i have stem from modding games without Workshop support, using external Mod Managers like Vortex sucks on Linux.

i do not agree with that sentiment. i’m an avid gamer, and in the last few weeks since switching to nobara i only found 1 obscure game that didn’t work, and 2 that needed an entry in the preferences of the game in steam. using heroic launcher for all amazon/epic/gog games and lutris for my piracy tryouts (would work in heroic too, but it’s cleaner that way)

but i must admit that the experience is smoother in windows; i miss my playnite launcher which integrated everything from steam to other stores, pirated games and all emulation needs.

I switched to Linux a few weeks ago and i’m running a local LLM (which was stupidly easy to do compared to windows) which i ask for tips with regex, bash scripts, common tools to get my system running as i prefer, and translations/definitions. i don’t copy/paste code, but let it explain stuff step by step, consult the man pages for the recommended tools, and then write my own stuff.

i will extend this to coding in the future; i do have a bit of coding experience, but it’s mainly Pascal, which is horrendly outdated. At least i already have enough basic knowledge to know when the internal logic of what the LLM is spitting out is wrong.

Like the others said, the ratio of posters/lurkers on most social media sites is 10/90, and i think that lemmy is on the better, more active side of things. in a 30k community that means that you will see about 300 people commenting regularly, and 30 of them will be very active.

i also like the smaller scope here, fewer comments mean that my opinion will be engaged with more.

I rarely commented on reddit, because one little comment in a swarm of 2500 will not even be noticed. It’s different here, and i wrote over 400 comments this year! i maxed out at about 100 on reddit because my comments wouldn’t even be noticed most of the time if i didn’t filter by new.

The budget snack items like chocolate, chips and so on have, in my opinion, lost a lot of quality; they taste a lot greasier, have worse “mouth-feel”, or are just sugar with less aroma depending on the product. I also buy less, but higher quality stuff now in comparison to 20 years ago. (Central Europe here)

I agree with you that the onboarding process is complicated for a user that doesn’t want to invest time into learning how the fediverse works.

I think that is a positive thing.

The good thing about the Fediverse is that it isn’t profit driven, it isn’t necessary to grow without end, and because of this it also isn’t necessary to appeal to the mass of users who don’t want to learn how things work here. It’s a filter, weeding out the people who aren’t open to new structures - that often comes paired with the inability to have open minded discussions.

I do agree with you regarding the missing transfer options, but since karma isn’t a thing here, a simple import/export function for subscribed communities and blocked items should suffice, and shouldn’t be too hard to implement.
