Technology@lemmy.world•This new 40TB hard drive from Seagate is just the beginning—50TB is coming fast!English
31·1 year agoIt is not anecdotal, Seagate, FOR A DECADE, had quantifiably the worst drives with some models hitting 30% failure rate. They still, to this day, have shit models with over 10% and are almost always, the worst in back blaze reports of all data center drives. The only issue we have on the reports is nobody does random sampling and Seagate has always been the cheapest so they get overrepresented in reports.

18·1 year agoReally, the simplest form of this can be broken into two groups with different views in ethics.
On one side, the whatever is best for me is the better choice crowd. Consequences for others, hell even thinking about others, does not matter, because it’s a dog eat dog world. Others are only used as a prop for their end goal. Preservation of self interest is their only true moral code, and can be easily manipulated by framing fake arguments to support the self in any situation. This gets compounded by narcissist power hungry liars that will say anything as long as it benefits them.
On the other side, the whatever is best for society crowd. They are less concerned about great outcomes for themselves if it is at the expense of others. The rising tide lifts all ships moral code. This requires empathy, logic and thoughtfulness. Quite simply it’s waaaay easier to be in group 1, than group 2.

Games@sh.itjust.works•'There Are So Few Of Us Left': Even Full-Time Games Journalists At Big Websites Are Feeling It In 2025English
22·1 year agoThe publishers made them. If you don’t have an early review ready the second a game releases, nobody cares about your review. Publishers knew that and would blacklist anyone that gave them bad reviews. No early copies means no day one reviews.
So all that are left are places like IGN that will never give a score lower than 6/10 for the largest dog shit games in existence.

Not even sure why/were you’re even taking this. They said a major outage was no worse than a website being overwhelmed by shoppers. I pointed out it’s in fact waaayyy worse. I don’t give a fuck about the corporations lost time.
