i guess in the case of humans we would have evolved for a long time to mainly eat fruit that has a high water content with low salt content possibly even being most of needed water intake. after starting to eat meat perhaps there hasnt been enough evolutionary pressure to be able to regain saltwater consumption ability

if humans would be adapted to that it could work but it would mean without modern technology it would be close to impossible to survive without access to saltwater (most of human habitable land area)

but whales like all sea creatures have high bodry salt content making the osmotic pressure difference small

kidney disease is one of the most common ways cats die of old age so super efficient kidneys dont come without a tradeoff. Cats have evolved to live in very arid enviorments where saltwater is all that is availible so the tradeoff might have been worth it. ability to drink saltwater only would work without kidneys being prematurely overstressed would be likely if animals had higher normal salt content but that would mean they would need a lot higher salt intake making living inland harder.

basically a vinaigrette but even simpler. just needs a very good oil and balsamic and good balsamic aint easy or cheap to come by

they do tend to work more consistently and stay sharper for longer if you rarely/never sharpen your knives or dont have the proper equipment. a well sharpened chef’s knife though is better but i have to admit i dont have the energy always to properly maintain the edge on them

they help with getting a nore consistent cut but in my opinion only case when it really matters if you really care about the presentation being perfect

In finland american style pancakes are not really a thing that people make. usually we make crepe style pancake called lettu but we also have a thing that translates to pancake(pannukakku) that is not made in a pan but in oven on trays and they are usually denser and thicker than american style pancakes.

Feels like too many phones try to be something special but are afraid to fully commit as fully committing would make the phone look different than your typical phone and often with tradeoffs in other areas. When i got my phone i got it because it has a huge battery(21000mAh) that lasts about 5 days on my regular (quite heavy) use and it is fully waterproof (rated for heated pressure washing and i have tested that it can easily survive being underwater in a hot tub, i also have a habit of sometimes washing the screen with water and soap). The tradeoffs are that it’s built like a brick, weighs half a kilogram and all headphone jacks don’t fit the port because the waterproofing requires the port to be recessed.
