While I understand the hate and also somewhat agree with it, there is no denying that it can be useful for some things. If those moments of usefulness are worth the damage to society and environment? Absolutely not. I am however guilty of using it anyway to cut research time ten or twenty times for a few particular use cases.

I mainly use it for comparing products, and finding tools/products that fit my needs (sustainability/longevity/value/complexity/learning curve/beginner friendliness). I find it to be really time saving for this particulqr purpose. Customer service agents should be forgotten by history ASAP.

This is a forum, and forums are made for discussion, right? I think it’s fair questioning something that you don’t share the same opinions/feeling about. But, in hindsight, just writing “gross” doesnt really contribute to any discussion really…

Reading this comment chain again today, Id like to add that writing “gross” is not very constructive or contributing to any discussions… but had they elaborated a bit, it might have been a fair input to the conversation.

But bitterballen is honestly nothing to be proud of. I was at a dutch christmas bouffé once, and it was so bleak. Pea soup with prk, bitterballen, root vegetable mash. Barbaric.

You reeeeally downplay Smörgåstårta (pinnacle of any scandinavian festivity food imo) with this description. You have white bread with layered savory fillings - this is correct. But the contents should be like 40% shrimp, in what you call a Skagenröra or similar. And sallad leafs, cucumber slices, cold smoked salmon (very important), lemon slices and tomato. Lots of dill as well.

I promise it’s the best.

Vegetarian pizzas need more than 2 honestly, or else lots of dairy/mayo based pizza sauce (common in west sweden, dunno if thats the case anywhere else)

I have a similar story, but in response to their action against RIF, i just started lurking old.reddit without an account (as matter of principle, I stopped using my account). Now I’ve finally made the switch, but am having trouble navigating here. What are your fav communities on lemmy, if I may ask? Honestly quite happy that they removed my access to reddit, as now I can participate in dedicated forums like in the internet of old, before the massive internet hubs AKA reddit, insta, fb etc :)
