Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•So apparently full stops in texts are 'passive agressive' now. What other unwritten rules for texting have changed over the last couple of decades?

15·10 days agoThey’ll do what Russia does with their online services. Have a registration scheme with noncompliant VPNs being outright banned.

Technology@lemmy.world•UK to “encourage” Apple and Google to put nudity-blocking systems on phonesEnglish
72·10 days agoThat seems the most sensible way of doing things. Apple probably doesn’t want that outcome though because then they’ll be liable for the implementation rather than, for example, the social networks or websites.
Always gotta be thinking about the Apple shareholders.

243·15 days agoDon’t worry about it! The Democrats will oppose this and get it kicked out for being un American. And if they don’t succeed then all you have to do is wait until they get back into office and they’ll executive order it straight outta town in an instant…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do any countries genuinely appreciate American immigrants?
5·17 days agoFirst take time to listen to people. Engage in their conversation. Whilst your opinions are valid take some time to listen to others instead of coming in hot with views that Canadians might feel upset about. After that build friendships from mutual acceptance. Sports is a good way to bond. If you can volunteer around your neighbourhood. You’ll find the transition easier if you try a little at the beginning. It will go a long way. You’ll soon forget the person you used to be.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do I deal with someone who's been shitting in front of my house?
4·26 days agoThat would definitely catch the fox and warn it off. Might even deter the human too if they have wet runny shit running down their legs. Great idea!

292·26 days agoCould be a fox? 🦊
Buy a camera. Catch them in the act. Call police. Have them arrested. Sadly this is the only way to deal with people (assuming it’s a human doing it).
