Thanks for the link. I got an interest in licences that add restrictions to current open source ones

Remember if the OSI/FSF actually cared about the gas generators/theft/Palantir, anti LLM amendments would be introduced in GPLv4 & Apache v3 & BSDv7.
They freak out every time such possibilities are discussed, like “oh, no, the freedom number 0, that won’t be open source”, but I ask myself who decides what open source is. if it’s something really community-based, the community must be able to have a say in such matters, but they’re always dismissed, in favor of what a small group decided a few decades ago and imposes on us without any margin of popular participation
I might dislike ai, but if that thing ends up taking users away from microsoft, so be it. It’s a greater cause

1·6 days agoI get what you say, but don’t think they’re innocent and just victims of propaganda. They hate the ones poorer than them. They dream of vulnerable people getting poor enough to do domestic work for them for cheap, they want to be the only homeowners and rent their spare houses to the poorer, they love to have their children in those shitty private schools just so they can brag about it and not let them mix themselves with the poorer. They middle class might be “poor” by global standards, but they own a local privilege and they care more for not letting the ones below rise than to improve their own lives.
The far-right leaders noticed those feelings and took advantage with propaganda machine, but those people are far from mere victims of propaganda…

317·8 days agoI don’t get why people think they will be more efficient and faster than someone who’s used to pass products all day. Cashiers already know where to look for the barcodes and remember the codes for vegetables without having to look anywhere. Self-checkout is only faster in the beginning because few people use it. When it becomes the only option, prepare for even longer queues with people passing the products in such calmness as if they’re doing it in purpose

2·9 days agoTheir propaganda machine does a lot into converting the poorer people, but for our middle class? Oh, they know what they’re doing… the seed that led to all this goes back to like 15 years ago, whey they were getting more and more uneasy by the fact that poorer people were starting to have higher incomes and started to do things that used to be exclusive to the middle class, like going to university, driving, eating in restaurants, traveling, buying houses, getting into management positions, etc, so they felt like they were losing their privilege and developed a strong hate against the poor and the leftist governments, starting some movements against them. This sentiment was then exploited by the far right agenda, but it wasn’t imposed by them. The sentiment was there and still is. They wanted it. They want us to suffer and stay poor. They want to be the homeowners who rent to us, They want to have cheap domestic workers doing the chores for them, etc. This is a rough summary, the situation is a bit more complex, but I assure you, it’s not just manipulation.

The us interference might have helped, but most people would do the same without it. We can’t blame others for this. It’s the most depressing thing ever

5·13 days agoIt’s not just increase in content. Search engines don’t even do searches based on keywords or logic operators anymore. They run some NLP on the query input and do who knows what to give you results. If we could still make searcher that contain specifically certain terms or exclude others, it would be still possible to navigate into the mess

Come on, look at our recent history. Look at what happened to Dilma. Look at our congress and senate composition. There’s not much room to make many improvements. We’re stuck fighting against right-wing domination and total control by the US, like in Argentina. The far right has already won this election. They have the majority in our government. We are just trying to elect Lula to limit their power. this also happened in the past elections. No one recognizes the work from the ones who avoid bad things from happening, and people are being very unfair to lula. take for example the recent policy of using petrobras to hold the fuel prices internally. Many places around us are facing crisis and prices are skyrocketing due to the war, but brazil is almost untouched. And even though the congress is against him, he pushed laws to reduce work hours, prohibit online gambling, reduce taxes on the poorer, remove taxes from medications, and others. Many people who are bashing him today only had access to education through his politics of expanding federal institutes, many people have access to healthcare through the expansion of “UPAs”, many people don’t have to pay rent because they had access to “minha casa, minha vida”, etc and lots of etc. People take full advangate of his policies, but will bash him nonetheless.
Lula is no Biden, and this comparison is really unfair, if not uninformed
