The Amiga version of Alien Breed 2. Bitch is hard as nails in a coffin. In comparison the Alien Breed trilogy on PC on hardest difficulty is a walk in the park.

I’m surprised that there isn’t any government organization that controls or oversees this kind of buyout, especially when so many billions are involved.

It is entirely playable from start to finish solo or coop, there is no difference from a content or progression point of view. Also PvP is entirely optional and sandboxed.

mrfriki@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How long do we have before PCs get locked bootloaders and corporations ban installation of "non-approved" software? (for context: Google is restricting sideloading worldwide on Android ETA 2027)4·1 month agoI see Apple doing it, not because they are Apple but because they control the whole manufacturing process, so they wouldn’t need to negotiate with third parties. That’s what has happened in the mobile industry. In the PC side of things you would need to sit on a table: the CPU, OS, and probably GPU and MOBO manufacturers to negotiate, and knowing how greedy they all are, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. But hey, anything is possible in this dystopian society we live in.

mrfriki@lemmy.worldto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•It's a simple thing, but one good way to make games memorable is for the developers to leave you words of encouragement in the pack-in material.English4·2 months agoSo this is the last game I played in my early twenties, then a gaming hiatus of 15 years (studying, dating, work…) It was on a brand new PC I had put together for my design studies. Two things I remember perfectly: A) the atmosphere was incredible and scary B) when enemies showed it ran in stop motion. Sadly I had to put my money towards more memory and better monitor and the GPU wasn’t as necessary to me at the moment.
It was nice to have Xbox a month or two a year to play new releases. Guess that it’s over now, no problem, still a patient gamer.
