We agree that the problem is that countries would deny asylum to those in need, but sounds like your solution that those in need should preemptively disqualify themselves based vibes or something.
I think anyone who wants to should apply for asylum. If they are rejected and choose to migrate anyway, more power to them.
I think the tone deaf thing here is you telling trans people, who are being actively targeted by an increasingly fascist goverment and conservative media, that it’s not bad enough yet for them to leave.
Any person who wants to leave and has the means to leave should absolutely leave by whatever means, and your judgment of them is of no value.
If you have a problem with worldwide asylum quotas, maybe take that up with a foreign government or something. People who are just trying to survive and make the best decisions they can in an increasingly high-stakes situation should disregard everything you’ve said and continue doing whatever they want, and you should support their ability to do so.

Herndon and Dryhurst are frequent collaborators, and xhairymutantx is their work. So they didn’t just prompt an LLM to make the image, they trained the model themselves. And they specifically trained the model on pictures of Herndon (who has distinctive red, braided hair).
I’m personally a really big fan of their work (which I don’t expect everyone to be), but the picture that’s being circulated in articles and apparently sold at auction without context is pretty uninspiring.
Everyone’s experience is different, and everyone will deal with different hangups, that’s true. I grew up in a very repressed environment myself, actually, and it has been a real struggle and many years of shedding layer after layer of repression to get to where I am, and every time it’s been learning how to listen to myself. If you swap the words cis and trans in this, it’s just as absurd. Respect yourself. Be who you want to be. Trans, cis, be the dinosaur astronaut you wanted to be when you were four years old. The mere act of asking yourself what you want and really listening to the answer is all the permission you need.
Thank you for this! Questioning and considering one’s gender is such a valuable thing for both trans and cis people, I’d like to say that anyone in this process of self-discovery is a hatching egg. And just like a hatching egg, the best thing you can do is to give it a supportive environment and plenty of time.
I was in a similar situation, except didn’t even realize I was trans until after we had a baby. Open communication is important in a relationship, so I told her, halfway resigned that our marriage would end. Long story short, it didn’t, and we’re happier than ever.
