  • Similar to what happened with me when I first got a site wide ban. I disagreed with a more conservative post, got a subreddit ban, then a while later I commented there on an alt account because I forgot I was banned from there, and both my accounts were permanently nuked. I tried to come back, managed to do so recently on a new device and IP and a new email, and got an account warning for saying an animal abuser should be screamed at, just screamed at, nothing more. Apparently screaming at horrible people is violence now. I voluntarily said goodbye to reddit then.

  • Not only that, but they use device bans as well, so even if you switch to an unbanned IP they can still detect if you’re on the same device you were first banned on, and ban you again for ban evasion.

This one time I got banned from world news for disagreeing with one of the more conservative posts there, and I wasn’t even impolite about it. Months later I accidentally commented on world news again using an alt account, as I had forgotten about the ban. So then I got permanently banned from reddit itself, and every time I tried to make a new account it got banned for ban evasion. I was only able to make a new account and keep it for more than 24 hours when some time later I changed my IP and bought a new phone.
