Maybe i did not read everything well enough, but did GrapheneOS provide anything other than just ‘they do this’ and ‘they are not secure’? Are there more sources to prove GrapheneOS is not talking nonsense?
Not that i’m defending e/os or anything, i’m just really curious to read some proper examples of their (for what i’m now calling) claims.
I’ve read only but good things about e/os… until this. Saying this while my Fairphone 6 with Murena will be delivered in about 12 hours…
That actually sounds quite accurate lol. I do like the additional option of having network switches and have sandboxed Google play services, but other than that there’s barely any customisation that other roms do offer. I do miss crDroid some days.
Just flash CalyxOS, it wouldn’t matter which version (e/os or standard Fairphone) you get, so just get the cheaper version (usually the non-Murena version is cheaper)
Unless you are willing to buy a Pixel in order to use GrapheneOS (now with the Pixel device-specific code being closed sourced, probably don’t do that), I think Fairphone is still the best option if the carriers in your country support it. I mean, its the only one I know of besides Pixel that supports re-lockable bootloaders while running an alternate OS, very important for security.

I have yet to update my Pixel to Android 16 specifically because of this.
Calyx is going to be my next update. I say that a lot, but I’ve been methodically going through all of my apps and making sure everything I use will work on a de-googled ROM. It takes time.
FYI the Pixel codes being closed sourced also affect every custom ROM that runs on pixels, not just Graphene OS. If you are already on Pixel, just keep using GrapheneOS.
Like… your device wont magically become insecure, but as time goes on, there will be firmware level exploits that the GrapheneOS team can’t easily patch because they’ll need to spend time to reverse engineer it.

Graphene OS devs tend to sniff their own farts and claim it’s roses.
Unless you have a legitimate need for that kind of locked down security, I wouldn’t worry about any of what they have to say.

I…was never using Graphene?
Currently running stock 15 (rooted). 15-based Calyx is my next OS upgrade. Or possibly e/OS (when they get to it).
