This hardly makes a difference since you’re already fucked most times by grid lock if you’re in a car anywhere in Manhattan. If you need to get across town faster, do what the rest of us do, and take the subway.

There are open intersections for cars spaced out every bunch of blocks

City has 10 parallel car heavy paths to get from point A to B : normal, good, as it should be.

City has 9 parallel car heavy paths and 1 person/bike/transit path to get from point A to B : A travesty, doom for business, the unraveling of all civilization.

Sorry i had to add it, because I’m sure some car brain would read your comment and think you’re agreeing with them

Totally understandable, they don’t seem to list the car crossing locations until it’s a few days before the event. For example here’s the car crossing info for the Queens open streets this weekend (pdf link)

It would be cheaper to buy a new car and abandon it at your destination than take a cab across town

How is a 20-40 dollar cab ride cheaper than a new car?

Out of curiosity, do you live here?

I’ve never taken a cab across town, but I don’t live in Manhattan itself. Bus, train, or just walking has always been enough. (Or biking, for the brave)
