Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., the ranking member of the Science Committee, said in a statement, “This is the latest stupid move made by a president who continues to harm science and American innovation. The NSB is apolitical. It advises the president on the future of NSF. It unfortunately is no surprise a president who has attacked NSF from day one would seek to destroy the board that helps guide the Foundation. Will the president fill the NSB with MAGA loyalists who won’t stand up to him as he hands over our leadership in science to our adversaries? A real bozo the clown move.”
I genuinely don’t think the next election will happen.
The takeaway for the next government here is essentially: we can do what we want, send anyone to jail, kill people on the street and nothing bad will happen, and no one in power will suffer any consequences.
If there is any way trump can achieve that, he will.
This last decade has driven home the fact that America isn’t a “rule of law” so much as “prevailing norms that mainly get broken on the quiet” type of country.
WW3?
Well that seems like the next logical step if today’s “assassination” doesn’t bring up his polling numbers.
WW3 will only occur if the US attacks a country that is capable of actually hitting the mainland.
So Canada or Mexico… Oh wait.
Unfortunately, too many other Americans think it will, and by the time they realize it won’t it’ll be even more too late.
They will tell you that you are clearly overreacting, that whatever bullshit excuse given is legitimate.
Later (way past anyones ability to act) they will claim that it was bullshit and they knew it all along.
