I would like to see how people get their big items home. I assume it has to be delivery. You’re not riding the train with a big IKEA chair, much less a couch or a big screen TV or kitchen table.
Not complaining, just actually wonder because that part is not usually shown and others may think they are loosing something by not having a big ass truck to haul stuff to their house on an every day basis for one day of the year.
It’s Paris, where car ownership is only about 20% of the population IIRC. Amazingly, people manage to survive without them.
OK yes, so the question is how. How do they get a sofa or some big thing to their house or apartment from the store/shop. Does the shop unload it out on the street and then you hire a couple of big fellows to carry it a few blocks to your house? Do they dolly it to your house? I bet there has to be like an electric dolly thing that they use.
Usually a car or delivery (you can rent or borrow a car)
But you can’t drive it home. How do you do that last little bit where cars are not allowed? In the Netherlands, I’ve seen special mini delivery vans and bike vans. But I never really got to see anyone delivering something interesting.

Better have a modern dolley or it’s gonna be a right pain in the ass. Also fuck those small shitty little furniture dolleys.
They probably drive it with a mini forklift all the way to your house. If you’re up on the 5th floor with no elevator, you’re screwed. But maybe they require a service elevator. The IKEA mentality where everything in packaged in a small box or boxed is probably very important. But that’s why I’m asking.
A few weeks ago we drove the minivan to a nursery and we were able to fit 4 different trees in it. I bet the whole nursery business is complete different. Like unless you got yard or rooftop you’re not getting a tree. Just an example of how things would be different in small ways.
I don’t like. The green space should be in the middle and it should have big trees.
Not sure about this particular case but often roads still need to be able to provide access for emergency vehicles. But trees would be nice yeah.
College campuses in the U.S. are built like this. If you pay attention you can notice where the roads are (they usually have hydrants)

I can see it might not fit, since they clearly kept the path wide enough for emergency services to still use it.
It looks like bikes are parked between the first & second gardens, there might even be more further back!
