They kind of are, by painting them as the exact same and not noting the very real differences between them you are in a sense defending the Republican party.
Especially in the context of this conversation.
That’s not to say that the political system doesn’t deserve a level of scrutiny, it most definitely does but the hard reality is that there’s no reform that doesn’t come with participating in it on some level.
I think what weakens the case is that we’ve had a lot of progressive Democrats that have demonstrated real change and to ignore that is not just defending the Republican party but deminishing the very real work by people who want that change.
Democrats aren’t the white knights. They haven’t swept in to fix things. Whenever they’re in power they refuse to move the needle far enough to fix the damage done by Republicans. Look at Obama and Biden; they continued most of the same horrible practices as the Republicans have done.
Republicans are evil and monstrous. Democrats are okay and lack the spine to actually make the change the people want. They’re not the same, but neither is really reflective of the will of the people because the only people they (political parties) listen to are people with money.
That’s sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy isn’t it? I never meant to make you feel attacked my reasoning is right there and very clear, If that feels like bad faith, I’m not sure how two people with competing beliefs could ever have a discussion
Oh, what have the republicans done? They have a lot of power to do whatever they want. They could even reign him in a little, but no. Last comment.
no one is defending Republicans here

But expecting them to be the white knights without participating in primaries, without doing our part, is what got us here.
Democrats exist on a spectrum between very good and horrible.
no, they’re not.
If you care to expand with any amount of nuance or?
there’s no point. you’re dissembling. I have no reason to believe you’re operating in good faith. no one is defending the Republicans
