Donkey Kong 64 is coming to Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers! Available June 4, 2026

Cross isles with the Kongs as they face King K. Rool.

With his mechanical isle stuck off the shores of DK Island, K. Rool kidnaps the Kong family to distract Donkey Kong. It’s up to our furry hero to rescue his friends, reclaim his Golden Bananas, and save his homeland from certain doom. Choose from five Kong members as you play solo in a quirky adventure or with friends in competitive battle arenas!

Join Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong as they fight to keep DK Island safe and sound from K. Rool and his Kremling crew. Climb, swim, and jump with each of the five Kong members through treacherous and puzzling areas while taking advantage of their special abilities and upgrades. Encounter friendly aid from other Kongs and a caged Kremling by the name of K. Lumsy. Hunt for collectibles and play wacky minigames while solo, or duke it out in battle arenas with friends in a four-player split-screen view. There’s enough fun to go around to make you go bananas!

This game holds a place dear in my heart. Growing up we had a Nintendo 64, the clear green one that was bundled with the game. But at the same time my parents thought video games were bad so to prevent me from palying too much, it was the only game we had for years (apart from some NES games, eventually got two more 64 games). So I played the hell out of it. I lost count of how many times I did the 101% completion.

I used to go to that forest/mushroom level all the time and just shoot bad guys and play the Jetpack game. Kinda funny how when I was a kid I didn’t really care about finishing stuff. If I reached a point that was too hard or intimidating I’d just go replay the fun stuff.

I only completed the game for the first time as a teenager (far from 100%). When I was younger I just cared about roaming around and explore as much as possible. I did not speak english so it was kind of hard to figure out what to do. But the game stuck so much with me that it’s one I’ve replayed the most.

I honestly never thought they’d add this one. Partially because of Rare, but mostly because it’s a little wild for Nintendo in some parts. I figured they wanted to leave this one in the vault forever. Glad they didn’t, excited to play it again.

TBH, if you’re actually looking to replay it, I would recommend just getting an emulated version on PC with the added quality of life feature that lets you swap kongs at any time. The game is very tedious without it.

Better then having to pay 50 currencies for such an old game?

Do you also complain about Xbox game pass costing money? Or PS Plus?

Why do you people subscribe to Nintendo content just to hate on every post? Just unsubscribe or ignore then?

I want to play that game on my switch but im not signing onto a subscription to play one game… I would subscribe to any of those things you mentioned if I was going to use it.

Am I hating on every post? I made one comment dude. Leave me alone. I’m going through shit and I dont need someone on the internet pushing me closer to the edge.
