    the Democratic Party should focus their energies on changing the rules that force everyone to the left of republicans to be in the same party

    I am under the impression that centrist dems push back on progressives because progressives support policy like this. It’s kind of like you said “Hey Liberals, if you don’t want to be replaced by progressives, just do everything the progressives want to do”.

    My hope is that we’re seeing the left-side equivalent of how the Tea Party shifted the GOP, except it’s actually grassroots.

      Probably, but if so, saying this to them helps reveal their hand-wringing about electability as self-serving. If they have a solution but won’t pursue it or even block it, then it’s easier to tell them to shut up about it.

        Fortunately, it looks like the DNC is learning from their past mistakes, and are rallying behind El-Sayed, at least from what I’ve read.
