Positive engagement with the material that drives impulsive behaviour in people with mental disorders is not an effective treatment. That would be like saying to an alcoholic “you shouldn’t be drinking a handle of vodka every morning, try having a glass of wine in the evening instead.”
That’s like comparing apples with oranges. I was talking about gathering of statistical data. There are solid arguments against drawn CP like it becoming less and less taboo making one possibly more likely to not see the assault as bad, but there is no way to prove it. I will send what I was trying to paraphrase when I get out of shower and dry to user you responded to.
I wasn’t exactly able to find him say anything about gathering data about CP sex offenders, however I was at least able to find a video of him saying that there is no conclusion yet: https://youtu.be/2UvKgsi-kDg?t=318
I thought I heard him say that gathering data was very difficult as people would have to admit to offending. Maybe it was because I kept on hearing him talk about problems with studies sample sizes but that doesn’t matter.
i wonder how much of them dont act out, but still consume csam, skewing the “committing SA on children” statistics.
I don’t think there is a reliable statistics for that. I was watching a psychologist specialized on sex offenders and he said it just doesn’t work.
What doesn’t work exactly?
