Wow, flashbacks. I remember after being incredibly wowed by Daggerfall, this game was a day one purchase. I was so excited, but I never got past the very first floor. It was just such an incredibly different experience than expected, not nearly as fun (to me) and so much more difficult.
I’ll give it another try once this project reaches 1.0, though. Maybe an older, wiser me can enjoy what teenage me could not.
Arena came out 2 years before daggerfall…
Oh, I was thinking this was Battlespire from the graphics… My mistake, thanks for the correction.
Anyone has an idea how much is still missing to be feature- and gameplay-wise comparable to the original?
Known issues:
>Armor and enhancement properties on equipped items are not applied yet. >Human enemies don't display equipped >weapons. >Shopkeeper inventories don't match original game. >Rented tavern room applies to all taverns globally. >Holiday conversation variables (%nh, %nhd, %hod) are not implemented. >Outside textures and sky don't update to match weather after entering and exiting an interior. >Building names for wilderness temples and in Imperial City don't match original game.I found this in the notes list in github
For just a second, I thought I was looking at a remaster of Ultima underworld, and my heart skipped a beat
