Every hotel I go to they have the brightness cranked - and my wife loves watching TV to sleep, which keeps me awake because I can’t tweak any settings. Makes me want to buy a universal just to put in my luggage…

You can probably get an IR blaster dongle for your phone too.
Yeah…I severely miss my Samsung note 4
