Animal advocates are voicing concern over wild horse treatment after the New York Times reported that several hundred were being sold to slaughter since Donald Trump took office.
Either all wild horses are feral in America or only those who’ve lived one to two generations outside of domestication are. There are no horses in the states that aren’t descendents of domestic horses. These are more than two generations removed from domestication, so we’d normally call them wild (even if they’re actually semi-feral)
Horses are actually native to the Americas, they got hunted out by the Clovis hunters 10k years back. They originated here and spread across the frozen Beiring Strait.
The original horses were small, like the size of dogs.
