House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and his leadership team announced they are eyeing punishment for two House Democrats who bucked their party Tuesday.
Reps. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington and Jared Golden of Maine broke with leadership to advance a key procedural vote that revived Republicans’ legislative agenda. The incredibly rare crossing of party lines incensed many House Democrats and top leaders who were then forced to vote on a slate of GOP priorities.
“The decision by two of our colleagues to blindside the entire House Democratic Caucus and join with the Republican majority to pass a procedural rule on the brink of failing represents a significant breach of trust,” Jeffries said in a statement with Whip Katherine Clark of Massachusetts and Pete Aguilar of California. “It is an action that necessitates a serious response, and we have asked the Committee on Caucus Rules to take this up in short order.”

You know the adage about a frog not jumping out of the cook pot if the temperature increases slowly? Imagine the wealthy as the chef. Republicans are the heat. Democrats hold the temperature steady.
Whenever the heat gets too high, we vote for Democrats instead of jumping at the chef. The chef has made sure the Democrats don’t have an ice bucket or anything like that, instead they have a bucket of water just slightly cooler than the current temperature.
Every time, a vote for Dems is just a sign the temperature is going up too fast so the chef backs off a bit and rages about how the slightly cooler water will ruin dinner while salivating about how tenderly we are cooking ourselves.
IMO, the DSA is a bucket of ice. I’m not sure ice is better than the boiling water for our longevity, but they represent a rapid temperature shift in the right direction. Once things get cooled off, we can figure out how far we want to go. That’s all on a younger generation because just that is probably going to take the rest of my natural life to achieve.
Or maybe that’s the flaw of the 2 party system that can only be solved by forming a coalition of anti establishment DNC like the democratic socialist movement.
Maybe then there’s a chance we can get ranked choice voting but not if the same leeches currently in power remain or the progressive movement only barely eeks out a win is a guaranteed failure of the people of the united states.
