You can thank the oil industry for that (well auto too). They don’t want any competition for intercity travel. Couple it with the freight train companies that don’t want to share the tracks, so you have to build new tracks. Then you end up with the NIMBYs who are like “I don’t want you going through my land, I may need it some day” and you end up with a stupidly high barrier to entry.
You’d think they’d have at least bullet trains.
They keep emphasizing ‘trains’. You gotta know your market. Emphasize the ‘bullet’.
