Super Mario Bros was published in 1985 not 1972 but yeah.
Back in the 90’s, video games were new enough that you could forgive the film industry for not being familiar with them. It’s been 30 years. They still don’t get it.
I kinda stand with Yahtzee Croshaw on this: The video game industry is a lot bigger than the film industry and makes a hell of a lot more money, so filmmakers should probably do a little learning their place.
Yes, like GoldenEye. No one played it, and it was definitely not a popular FPS where you jumped on enemies. It’s an obscure game based on the obscure movie where James Bond jumped on every single woman he saw. /s

They don’t play video games, they do coke or children. They live different lives than us poors.

Got it, fire everyone after the film is completed.
Thats pretty much what already happens in films. Most people work on one of them and then have to be rehired for the next.
I mean, lets be fair here. Its both coke and children.
I know bartenders who do a lot of coke. That doesn’t take that much money.
You’re being too generous. In the 90s we were playing PlayStation and TV shows were still using the death sound from Atari Pac-Man

There have been more good Movie: The Video Game releases than Video Game: The Movie.
It’s maybe 50/50 on Movie: Game releases. The NES had a TON of really terrible movie-based games, some utterly unplayable.
The NES had a bunch of garbage software anyway. Look at Hydlide or King’s Knight.
