David Steiner, who took office in July 2025 after the White House forced out his predecessor, is deeply discouraged by his job, four people said.
The head of the U.S. Postal Service has told confidants that he is deeply discouraged by his job and wants to resign, according to four people familiar with his thinking, as the agency comes under scrutiny over financial losses and Donald Trump’s effort to tighten rules on mail-in voting.
Postmaster General David Steiner, who took office in July 2025 after the White House forced out his predecessor, has expressed frustration over a lack of help from the White House and Congress in addressing the mail service’s long-running financial woes, the people said.
At the same time, the Postal Service was thrust to the center of a debate over the federal government’s role in voting after Trump directed it in March to serve as a clearinghouse for mail ballots. The Supreme Court on Monday blocked the agency from implementing key elements of the plan, dealing the White House a significant setback.
The pressures culminated in a contentious June Senate hearing, where lawmakers from both parties interrogated Steiner over poor delivery service, Trump’s ballot restrictions and his compensation.
The guys whose job it is to run the Post Office into the ground and destroy everyone’s life there has second thoughts? Naw, he is a total cunt and can’t sabotage the Post Office fast enough for his liking.
I work for USPS. This is all very demoralizing.
I salute your resolve. Keep fighting the good fight as long as you can.
The bullshit is coming from above, we appreciate you.
Im sorry. Its a total shit show. Thank you for delivering the mail.
You’re welcome!
keep on fighting the good fight <3
Honestly, it’s less about fighting and more about staying hydrated and keeping a safe distance away from dogs.
On the otherhand, I think everyone should strive to have as much integrity as I feel mail carriers have.
lol touché
no touché, KEEP. AWAY. from. the. DOGS. NO TOUCHÉ THE DOGS!
;-)
How about taking what you told “associates” and saying it publicly? Take a stand.
LOL, he didn’t realize his job was to become the fall guy for its destruction?
Postmaster General David Steiner … has expressed frustration over a lack of help from the White House and Congress in addressing the mail service’s long-running financial woes
Yeah, Dude, that’s by design. They want to show that the public sector doesn’t work so they can license the constitutionally mandated service (which isn’t supposed to make a profit) to their for-profit, private sector buddies. Your whole job was to enable that shit.
Same exact playbook with education.
Lol, the previous one also despised working at USPS. This is like a cursed position under Trump.
Just hire someone from within the organization please.
Previous one was also appointed by Trump, dude is a piece of shit
Look, it could be all the airplane glue I sniffed as a child talking here, but it seems to me that the “debate over the federal government’s role in voting” would be the perfect excuse to advocate for “addressing the mail service’s long-running financial woes.”
You want USPS to perform all these ballot restrictions? Sorry, can’t. You haven’t given us enough money for that.
You might tell me: That’s not how the post office’s finances work. But here’s the thing: In the noise-machine age that our pooper-in-chief has ushered in, your story doesn’t have to be true. It just has to be simple and loud. “Unfunded mandate,” you say over and over. “The president is cheaping out on election security,” you say over and over.
This is legit an amazing media strategy. I’m sad no one will use it.
“no one wants to work anymore.”
