    The sport is Speed Cubing, right? A Rubik’s cube is never used in these competitions, as they are some of the absolute worst cubes to use for cubing.

      Not the original one but new toys with the same topology are also called that thanks to the association that controls and licenses the trademark.

        Right but we in the community who are doing the sport don’t say that we are “Rubik’s cubers”, we are speed cubers.

        I’m not talking about the object itself, I’m talking about the sport.

        The fact that I mentioned that we don’t use Rubik’s cubes is just to further show that we don’t call it “Rubik’s cube world record”. We would call it Speedcubing world record. Not to mention that there are categories to this, so important to specify 3x3 etc.

      No, it’s called Rubik’s cube.

      She posted averages of 4.52 and 4.27 seconds, after solving the Rubik’s Cube five times.

      The girl, who is from Chengdu, is “the first female speedcuber to average under 4.5 seconds”, CCTV said.

      A video posted by the broadcaster showed her wearing a red gingham bow on her head as she deftly turned and twisted a Rubik’s Cube.

        It’s a Speedcubing record, IMO. We rarely ever talk about “Rubik’s cubes” in the community of speed solving… It’s a speed cube or a “cube”. But to the uninitiated, that’s the common term for this type of puzzle, due to the inventor and brand. 👍
