Overnight, D.C. District Court Judge Tim Kelly issued an order requiring the Trump administration to immediately reinstate MS NOW, CNN, and Politico’s White House access. But, this morning, MS NOW White House reporter Laura Barrón-López was denied access. She shares her experience. Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade and New York Times Chief White House Correspondent Peter Baker also join Erielle Reshef to discuss the judge’s order.
Since Trump started the Canadian Tariff Wars, the amount of Canadian crude going to the US has dropped substantially. Guess where it’s going instead? China.
While China might sell to the US for less than they’re buying from Canada, it won’t stay that way for long. Just long enough to get the US hooked on Chinese oil, which will likely be sourced in Canada and refined in China before being sold to the US.
One pod I saw (reliability unknowable) said their imports from the middle east had gone down, but their wasn’t clear visibility on actual usage. It could have been offset by using some of their huge reserves, or doing deals with Russia and/or Iran that weren’t being disclosed.
But China aren’t stupid and have been building out renewables to move towards less dependency on external energy supplies.

Exactly this. They don’t let people that are attached to things like gender-affirming vehicles - in some cases, even altered to burn MORE diesel in order to blow smoke on things like hybrids, EVs or bicyclists - drive our national energy policy, FFS.
Here, in America, we have a whole political party that represents the people attached to things like gender-affirming vehicles and therefore we have more of a vibes-based approach to energy plans.
This seems really odd.

This says our pipeline exports are up from 2025.

This says while there’s a slight drop from 2024, 2025 exports to the US are still higher than 2023.

There is this article which links to some reports. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/canada-china-trade-export-up-2026-9.7340408
The links in your reply say the value of crude exported in 2014 was $153 billion. So, a very small amount.
As I understand, the desire to get crude to the coast for shipping to Asia is the justification for the pipeline projects.
I thought their overall use fell in 2026 as well.
