It’s physically impossible at this point to merge one’s mind with a computer. We don’t fully understand how consciousness works and by the time we do, he’ll be worm food.

Actually in a way, maybe it would be a good thing if he achieves it. We can either pull the plug on AI and wipe him out, or he’ll go crazy living a thousand years. That would be hell.
