It’s a melody called “Playmates.”
This is a melody from a music box I remember as a child but I can’t find out what it’s called. I pieced together what I could remember using an online music box music maker program.
Here is my best guess at music notation:

Forgive the crudity of the recording. This was made after I spent an hour or so piecing together what I could remember. I am not musically inclined.

This is pretty close but I’ll have to find the sheet music to see if there melody was simplified for a music box mechanism (comb.) The song is just old enough its possible a music box company used the melody, which is super common with music box mechanism makers, so it could’ve been in the box I’m thinking of (early 1990’s.)
I had been thinking it was based on a polka but I can hear how it could be a simplified version of something latin. Oh, yeah. I definitely didn’t think the music box was inspired by my song. Lol I’m glad you solved it though. Funnily enough, the melody, if it’s the right one, was my favorite music box jingle growing up. I had a little one with a dog’s face. The eyes would love left and right, and it had a very satisfying click when you wound it up.
