Ive been called a hipster and im an Xer. I have also been called a boomer, nerd, geek, dork, and a whole bunch of things that kinda mean the same thing. Also facist capitalist and communist. Its funny how these things are.
when I was called one I think its because I was dressed down on a bike with long hair. it was younger folk who likely no longer thought hippie when seeing that look.
Yeah, but as an aesthetic definition, millenial is more a correlational than ontological. Most hipsters would be millenial, but they all don’t have to be. Put a boomer in skinny jeans, oil their beard, and put a craft heifeweisen in their hand and you’ll have a hipster.

What about bitch, lover, child, mother? Are you a sinner and a saint? Do you feel ashamed?
not really. it would be hard for me to sing it with a straight face.
Hipster was never a generationally specific thing in mind; not sure what the connection is to OP.
There was definitely a time for millennials where hipster was a defined aesthetic to that generation.

I’m not using the term millennial as the new word for hipster, but “millennial optimism”. Your response seems to be cutting that out.
