Must be a gen z thing.

People run Linux with full plasma desktop with like 8 gb ram. It’s the browser that eats up several gb from that, not the desktop. Desktop alone is probably 4 gb max.
But sure, depending on what else you run, you want more memory. But if windows recommends 32 gb just to run the system, that’s crazy.

It’s recommended to have 32gb of ram just for windows? Is that actually true?
Must be cool to be a Christian. Just do shitty things, then ask forgiveness and it’s all good. You always get it.
To me that signals someone deeply in their bubble.
But sure, you have that option… Block me too, this comment is probably also too spicy. :)
She is a complete narcissist in this movie. Has zero heroic attributes, has no kindness or compassion, completely self obsessed.

Now you start to understand…

It just means bots are taking over and we can trust even less of the web.
Ouch. Must have been difficult for you. Hope you feel better now when your Frontpage consists of things you can agree with. :)

This is why all the fear of Chinese stuff is nonsense. Specially coming from America who are the only ones who got exposed for a massive spy program by Snowden.
We are literally having American government being able to get into any cisco router they want. It was done in the recent conflict with Iran. But people forget these things so quickly.
Nostalgia moment. Grew up with this show. Carlton was the best. :)

I see your point I guess. Perhaps defederation is something that users want, and then they are happy to see who does it the most?
Im not like that myself, but I can see the point.

It doesn’t even Include https://lemmy.today/ that has no defederation or blocking at all, and has never had, since the admin feels it’s up to the user and not the admin to decide these things. You know, free and open internet, remember?
Also one of the best themes of all Lemmy instances if you ask me.
Well you guys elected a 78 year old business billionaire as president so now you have to look at him and listen to him.
Even though I have real doubts the election was honest.

I think its a good move. Memory will be required for virtually everything going forward. Robots, implants, gadgets, cars, you name it.

Standing by for “Chinese memory is spying on you, don’t buy it”.
If this memory is high quality, it will become very popular with consumers and still have high prices. No reason to lower it a lot for consumer market if they are alone there. Maybe make it 10% cheaper.
Yeah. I think hacker news has some decent ideas about how to manage these things. You can ask chat gpt about some details to get the idea, but I think its something along the lines of users not being able to affect a discussion with voting until they have some sort of reputation. And I believe that reputation has to come from reactions by the community.
I think if you ask chat gpt about that and have a discussion, some good ideas could surface. They have karma but it’s a ladder system where users get more options only after contributing successfully to the community, not just by time.
I think you shouldn’t have removed it because saying something is stupid is not ableism.
Anyway, most people like piefed and I think its great with many alternatives. In a project like this you will get many opinions. Listen to the ones that make sense and ignore the ones that are stupid. Yes, I called something stupid. It’s not ableism for gods sake.
I think your attitude score is stupid. But that’s my opinion and in the end it’s up to you, since it’s your software. It’s fine. Your intension is to create better discussions which is good. How to do it is not so easy.
Real answer? Because people around them don’t get angry and tell them to stop doing it.
I do blame them for being insensitive idiots but I also blame others who are afraid to tell them what they think.
Im not any better. I recently endured a train ride of 5 hours in the seats right behind a family with kids who were yelling, screaming, jumping… Everything, as if they were at home. Parents were just as loud, talking and screaming over the loud noise of their kids.
I escaped it by going to sit in the restaurant wagon, it was much quieter than our seats.
