You have to take in money for laundering to work. This is just money hemorrhaging. They fucked up royally, I think largely by not advertising. No one even heard of it until news of the poor release numbers made headlines, and that sure didnt entice purchases.
Alright so if I was the leader of a country and looking at my enemy country’s election I would consider saying I support someone who I don’t want to be in office so that people vote for the person I do like. But then again maybe I would know that people would know that so I would choose to support the opposite person instead. But then I think to myself “they probably know that I would know that they know I know what they know. And knowing is half the battle.” And realize G I Joe might just fuck himself up regardless of who I pick so I just choose a side and laugh about it because it doesn’t matter who I choose, only that I’m saying something to fuck with that entire country.
G.I. JOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Well I play video games, and woo boy, let me tell you about microtransactions, crap DLC content, season passes, never ending early access, unfinished releases, and anti cheat root-kits! If you’re on console you pay a premium to play online, if you’re on PC you have 18 different game launchers and DRM bullshit. Digital only stuff means you don’t own your games, cant loan them or trade them or sell them. I’m sure there’s more, and admittedly there’s good with the bad. Graphics have come a long way, and some rare innovations are fun to see. I still have fun with it, but wow it is a fucked up landscape full of way more land mines than it used to be.
I get that - and that’s a fine choice. I suppose my point is that I view Google the company, the entire entity, as the enemy of privacy. Therefore, I want nothing to do with them if at all possible, on any level.
I will admit it’s depressingly difficult, the whole reason I’m looking at this is because my old iPhone is nearly dead and I’ve been wanting to get away from them for awhile too. It feels like I’m looking at American politics. Both major parties suck for different reasons but anyone else looks like roadkill by comparison.
¯\(ツ)/¯
Every excuse in the world to keep using products brought to us by the enemy of privacy. This is why there are so few options.
And yes, that’s part of my concern. Even if others don’t notice, I still know. I still would be a hypocrite, railing on google for their bullshit, and then still using their products.
I’m not really judging anyone for buying a Pixel and taking the easy way out. Trying to maintain privacy with tech is a major pain in the ass, it gets tiresome quickly. But holy shit, people in this privacy community sure are quick to rail on me for trying to avoid the largest offender in privacy invasion.
I’m literally in the process of trying to find one.
I’m not delusional, I don’t think I’m going to single handedly bankrupt google, but I would really prefer to not support them in any way.
Some people are suggesting second hand Pixels so Google doesn’t get my money, but that’s still free advertising for them when I’m seen using it. It’s sort of like I don’t want to wear a google shirt when I’m completely against them.
You better call it the shinning unless yoo want to get sood!
Cause fuck Google, that’s why. I will likely indeed vote with my wallet, right now eyeing a fairphone with /e/OS but have not decided yet. It might not be the latest and greatest but I’m finding I don’t really use all the bells and whistles anyway. Give me email, web browsing, a basic camera, and maps, and that’s 90% of what I do on my phone so it looks like a suitable candidate. If I already had a google device then maybe Graphene is a great option, but I’m not further rewarding google by buying their spyware and having to mod it.
Ooo a privacy phone… that requires buying a google phone. Fuck that, I’m not shelling out money to the very company causing most of these concerns.
Pretty much this - depending how much surface area and how good the glue is you might get it or you might snap that right off too. If it fails the next step is to carefully drill the screw out. A somewhat riskier operation but itll get it open
$130?! Plus $30 for each game? That’s straight up bonkers.
This is by far the most confusing part when I consider switching over - which one to get? Primarily Steam gaming, but I saw someone mention the Nvidia cards I have might not play nice.
So once upon a time this was a thing…
People keep paying for it so why put more effort into it? When they do it doesn’t seem to pay off. The last game I bought from a big publisher was Hi Fi Rush. It was fantastic, original, clearly had more thought and effort out into it than the average AAA game, and look what happened to them. Hopefully their transition to a new owner turns out to be a positive one, but considering the industry trends I’m not holding my breath on that one.
This is why I do the patient gamers thing. I almost always wait for sales, bundles, etc. Most of my games come in at a deep discount, and the only ones I grab at a slight discount are because it’s got stellar reviews, had enough time to see how the updates, MTX bullshit, or servers played out, and is clearly still interesting enough to be worth both my money and time.
Isthereanydeal.com is my best friend for this. Gog.com is also great. Humblebundle.com is still occasionally worth looking at.
Sounds like a solid plan. Really I keep messing with most of the new weapons I find, so now I just whip this back out whenever I encounter a bunch of undead.
Wings were a little disappointing actually. Every once in awhile I would get some good hits with it, but half the time I would just fly right past the enemy and it was useless then.
I read the weapon description saying something about holy amplifying the power so I started experimenting a bit with it. I landed on using sacred blade to continuously apply extra holy with the special move instead of using grease. It absolutely destroys undead stuff. There may be a better choice too, since I’m running a fresh character I’m missing some ashes, but anything that gives it the extra grease aura should rock.
Much like when I hear about Call of duty I get a little surprised every time I hear this series is being made still. Not because it’s bad or anything, I really dont know, its just because the series got old and repetitive to me like a decade ago. How do people just keep eating the same regurgitated stuff over and over and still love it so much??
